Never every pay more for a warrantee. Here's why: The business could go out of business. The business might not be in the repair business. The business might no longer sell that item. The business could get bought out and refuse to honor old promises. The business could say "it's not our equipment's fault". The business could simply say they don't want to honor it. The business could say, "sure your fan isn't working, but your computer is, so we won't replace that fan". You could lose the receipt. The business may replace your equipment with exactly the same model, which is now less expensive that your warrantee cost you N years ago. They may define a related symptom as "not our problem". For example, they do technical internet support, and you discover it might be a problem with the modem or their UART, and they are forbidden from speculating on the source of the problem since they aren't "modem technicians". True story.
